Kali, Escrima and Arnis
Kali, Escrima and Arnis are three parts of the same art. The Filipino style is a no nonsense warrior art that teaches effective weapon and empty hands fighting in all ranges of combat. The Kali taught at Asian Martial Arts, Inc of Medina, is highly influenced by the combat arts of the native warriors of the Filippines as well as the martial arts of southern China. The focus is on practical applications and a well maintained balance between empty hands and weapon training. This style of Kali is a comprehensive and effective fighting art that is perfectly suited for today’s modern environment. This class can be practiced by all people, 14 years to adult regardless of size or gender.
You will learn punching and kicking, blocking and evasion, usage of elbows and knees, entries, trapping, takedowns, throws, locks, submissions, ground fighting, as well as weapon fighting and defense. The primary weapons taught are stick and palm stick. Other weapons edged and non-edged will also be taught as you progress in your training.
Studying the art of Kali will develop your speed, power, awareness, coordination, reflexes, and focus. As you advance in this art you will enhance your fighting capabilities in all ranges of combat and become a confident well-rounded fighter in weapons and empty hands. You will gain real skills that will stay with you for life while having fun and making friends. You will improve physically and mentally as well as benefit in general health and fitness level. You will be a stronger person in mind, body, and spirit.
Instructor: Sifu Kamille Louis
Sifu Louis has over 30 years of martial arts experience. He studied Martial Arts under several well-known masters and instructors, he is a certified master instructor. He holds the rank of Sifu in Shaolin Kung Fu, San Shou, Tai Chi, and Qi-Gong as well as the rank of Guro in Filipino Kali and Modern Arnis. He also has training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Indonesian Silat, and Judo.
